Special guest David Celia from Toronto

Brittany rules...

...or so it seemed in the first part of the show with a plethora of Breton tracks from Martin and Martin.

Bertie Cozic was in the studio to tell us all about an event outside his crêpe cafe Gourmandine in Exeter. Tomorrow - 21 February - there is a celebration there at lunchtime which includes live music and dancing. All are welcome to join in the fun and have a delicious crêpe or two in-between the dancing and merriment.

An exciting new event in the run-up to Exeter LGBT Pride is the Ceilidh for Exeter Pride, with live music from One Night Onlled by Jason Rice of the renowned Dartmoor Pixie Band.
Dances will be led by Martin Hodge 
(from rootsandshoots) and Simon Maplesden, both well used to getting dancers on their feet and ensuring people have a great time.
This is a Barn Dance style evening with fantastic danceable music.
Absolutely everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary.
Enjoy a song spot by the inimitable Jim Causley.
Fun and gales of laughter are guaranteed. Keep calm and Ceilidh on!

We Ghosts

Tonight we had a special feature on the exciting Anglo-Swedish band We Ghosts. Sadly the band were unable to play live but we heard some great tracks by them from studio and live recordings.
We Ghosts are Jen (Get well soon, Jen!), John and Fran. They produce beautifully crafted music with rhythmic guitar work and close harmonies. Thank you to John from the band who spoke to Martin Hodge on the phone and gave lots of interesting info re the band. Check out their music and gigs on myspace and take a look at youtube too.

From We Ghosts' live album we played Ghostdancer and The Lost Light. From their forthcoming album Almost Alone we heard the title track plus Destiny and Seeds.

Thank you very much, Tony and Carl

On rootsandshoots this week we had a highly entertaining set from two accomplished musicians from the band Jiggerypipery: Tony Bayliss on cittern and guitar and Carl Allerfeldt on fiddle. Tony and Carl played compositions by the band: The Goyle, Val's and The Mink Sporran plus Two Reels and Marie McLennan and performed the song Westlin Winds (Robert Burns) in readiness for Burn's Night on 25 January.
